February is the month of love, so why not fall in love with Pinterest? For some reason, many companies don’t feel that Pinterest is a part of their social media strategy for their business, but boy oh boy are they wrong! It helps introduce businesses to entirely new audiences. Did you know that by the end of 2019 Pinterest became the 3rd largest social network overtaking Snapchat?
What is Pinterest Exactly?
You may hear about Pinterest all the time but what is it and why is it so great? Well, it’s sort of like Reddit in which the users curate the content. Pinterest is like a virtual bulletin board that allows users to find and curate images and videos with the emphasis of sharing this content with their friends and family, showing off their own aesthetic which is perfect for companies getting their brand out there.
If businesses are trying to connect with either a B2B or B2C audience, Pinterest is a great network for that. It also fulfills all the important objectives of social media marketing: raising brand awareness, driving traffic to your website, and enhancing relationships with customers and users.
Check out our 4 reasons why you’ll fall in love using Pinterest in your social media strategy:
1. Pinterest drives traffic (and lots of it) 📊
Pinterest does an excellent job of increasing links back to your website, which, in turn, drives more traffic. It is more effective at steering traffic back to a website more than any other social media source. But this uptick in traffic obviously relies on good content! It is worth spending that extra bit of money to get the infographic or image just right in order for your post to really stand out.
2. Pinterest converts more browsers into buyers 🛍
The cool thing about Pinterest is that so many people turn to Pinterest during the research phase of their planning or for inspiration. Whether that be home decor, hairstyles, recipes and so much more! I am pretty sure I cannot be the only one to have tried at least one recipe found from Pinterest!
Sometimes it helps to think of Pinterest as a big, visual search engine. Pinterest helps to reduce the number of steps from discovery to conversion, making it easier for people to get straight to the source.
3. Pinterest Pins get you more inbound links 🔗
Many people may forget this, but because every pin includes a link, it makes it easy to lead it back to the source of the image. Just think of how many visitors you can bring to your website by posting images of your products or service on Pinterest! Never underestimate the power of image search!.
4. Pinterest integrates with your website, Facebook, Twitter (and more!) 🖥
Now I can’t end this blog without mentioning this of course! A great example of using this feature would be if you posted a blog and automatically had it sent to your Pinterest account as a pin. This would keep consistent content heading to your account that is more than just images.
Also, don’t forget to sync your Instagram with Pinterest! Every time you share content on Instagram (images), a pin gets created on Pinterest which reaches further audiences and creates more content with your brand for the web.
Overall, Using Pinterest in your social strategy may seem like it’s “old news” and not worth investing time into, but with the rise in the amount of digital media on the web today it would a shame to be left behind.
