Ringing in the New Year can be daunting. There’s all sorts of end-of-year work to do, plus Q1 items incoming. And especially with 2020 being the unorthodox year it was, it can be easy to want to go to through motions. But, we want to help you start off 2021 on the right foot! 1. Join A Business Networking Group 🤝
In 2020, we saw many events go digital.
That doesn’t mean they’ve ceased to exist, but found new ways of connecting. Tools like Zoom, Slack, and Microsoft teams can keep us connected virtually, and that goes for networking events as well. Local Business Networks like the Chamber of Commerce here in Concord, can be great ways to meet new people, talk about your business, and learn new ways of doing things. If you’re in New Hampshire, we definitely recommend exploring the Chamber of Commerce, they are a wonderful group of people that care about their members!
2. Create A New Series Of Content 📺
Content Marketing and SEO may have changed over the years, but in 2021, it’s all about quality, consistency, and relevance.
At V12, we recommend trying to find ways to answer questions or problems that your audience may have. For example, if you’re an accountant, a possible series could be showing the different software tools various businesses of different industries take care of their expense tracking. This is relatively easy to assemble, but broadly useful to users visiting your website. It also shows Google and other search engines your active blog!
3. Find New Ways To Automate & Streamline Processes 📊
Marketing automation and project management go hand in hand. Take a look at the tasks you are doing manually, and try to find ways to batch or automate them.
For example, are you posting a single social media post manually on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google My Business, and beyond? There are simple ways to set this up where if you post in one location, it will be shared across platforms. This leaves you with more time for other things, like data reporting, or creating more content!
4. Commit To Personalization 🎯
No one wants to feel like their just another customer or even a user. Going into 2021, there are so many ways to personalize your marketing efforts on both a micro-scale and a macro-scale.
Are you sending out an email newsletter? Use their first name in the introduction. Running Google Ads? Use a single keyword ad group strategy to insert their search query into the ad copy. Are you posting generic memes on social media as your business? Or stock photography with a weak caption?
It’s okay, but it’s time to upgrade. Start prioritizing quality and creating a cohesive ‘brand feel’ on your social media feeds. This will translate to higher engagement and following. And, make sure to do the same when commenting and connecting with other pages. Social media is for socializing, so don’t just be posting your own content all year long. Talk with people!
7. Experiment! Be Flexible 🤸♂️
It’s easy to get into the swing of things.
But when it comes to marketing, public relations, and web development, new methods, platforms, and technology are constantly rolling out. Obviously, we don’t have time to do it all, but take time occasionally to learn new things, and see what’s out there. Odds are, you will find something you like. Reddit can be a great source for this. Just keep track of what you’re trying, because it can easily slip through the cracks. Then, if it feels like a good fit, find ways to integrate it into your ongoing efforts.
